During the past few months there have been a few new companies coming into our area trying to start a limousine, airport shuttle
or other type of transportation service. Most of these companies are charging very low prices for their service.
The reason that they can charge such low prices is that they may be operating ILLEGALLY!
The following are reasons that you should NOT do business with these people and, in fact, should report them to the proper authorities!
They are NOT listed with the Public Utilities Commission ("PUC", our governing body). This saves them money since their vehicles
don't have to pass the rigorous inspections required by the PUC. Of course, this also means that their vehicles might not be as safe
as they should be.
They are NOT listed with the Secretary of State and, as such, they are not even a company in the state.
They DO NOT follow the PUC guidelines requiring drivers to adhere to specific safety standards. Since they don't track their drivers
service hours, your driver may have been driving for too many hours before they pick you up.
They DO NOT do any criminal background checks on their employees.
They DO NOT check their driver's driving record. Who knows? Your driver may not even have a valid driver's license!
And perhaps worst of all, THEY DO NOT CARRY THE NECESSARY INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS!!
Colorado State Law requires 1 to 1.5 million dollars in liability insurance per passenger per accident.
If you and yours are riding with them and are injured in an accident you may have NO legal recourse!
The bottom line? When you hire a transportation service, you are placing your well-being and the well-being of your friends
and loved ones in their hands.
If they are operating illegally you have no Assurance that they are living up to your high standards and no INsurance if they cause
Before hiring a transportation company you should request their PUC Number. Ours is listed at the bottom of each webpage.
If they cannot give you the number they may be illegal and you should report them immediately.
As a general rule you should always go to the PUC web site, see below, and verify that any company you use is
listed with them and is in good standing.
